To our Prose community,

We are deeply saddened and horrified by the news and increased violence against Asian Americans. The violent attacks against BIPOC communities have to stop. While racism against the Asian-American population is not new, it’s been reported that “more than 2,000 anti-Asian American hate incidents related to COVID-19 were reported from May to June across the U.S.” We feel it’s important to unequivocally state our support for our Asian friends, colleagues and community.

Last year, we made two commitments related to diversity and inclusion at Prose: increase and sustain our efforts to support all BIPOCs and hold ourselves accountable for the actions and choices we make surrounding our support for diversity and inclusion, as a whole.

As part of this ongoing mission, we have developed a formal DEI council who is responsible for leading definition, direction and execution of a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization. We will always stand up and speak out against racism and violent hate crimes but most importantly we will turn our words into concrete, supportive, actions. This is what we’re doing at Prose both internally and externally to support Asian-Americans:

Amplify Asian voices

  • We have been and will continue to work with and support partners in the AAPI community by amplifying the stories and voices of AAPI creatives. More to come on this across our social platforms, next week
  • Share and amplify personal stories from our AAPI employees

Give back to the Asian community

  • We are making donations to two different AAPI organizations; Hate is a Virus, a nonprofit community of mobilizers and amplifiers that exists to dismantle racism and hate and Asian Mental Health Collective, an organization aiming to normalize and de-stigmatize mental health within the Asian community by providing resources, and content about wellness with mental health professionals.

Educate and learn

  • Share a company-wide list of resources such as, organizations, books, podcasts and more to educate ourselves around AAPI racism and what we can do to support

We have joined the #StopAsianHate movement and we encourage other DTC and beauty brands to speak up and show their support as well.

The Prose Promise

We will continue to communicate on the topic of social change.

We will continue to keep you updated about diversity + inclusion at Prose.

We will continue to support the Asian community, POC, and all other marginalized groups.

We will continue to use our platform to fight for racial justice.

Now, always and forever.
